Jonathan Porter | Executive Vice President, Global Chief Risk Officer Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated

Jonathan Porter is Executive Vice President and Global Chief Risk Officer for Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (RGA), a role that incorporates both management of RGA’s global enterprise risk management and corporate pricing oversight. He has deep insights into RGA’s global business, having previously served as Chief Pricing Actuary of International Markets, and more recently as Senior Vice President, Global Analytics and In-Force Management, which he continues to lead. He is also a member of RGA’s Executive Committee.

Before joining RGA in 2008, he worked for Manulife Financial for almost 15 years, where his last position was Chief Financial Officer, U.S. Life Insurance.
Jonathan received a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA).

Klaus Diem | Senior Vice President, Chief Risk Officer at Nationwide

As Nationwide’s Chief Risk Officer, Klaus leads the Enterprise Risk and Capital Management functions overseeing the company's approach to identifying, assessing, aggregating, and optimizing its risk profile. He is responsible for Investment Risk Management, Quantitative Modeling and Analytics, Operational Risk Management, Corporate Risk Management and Reinsurance, Catastrophe Risk Management, Risk Governance and Reporting, and Risk-Adjusted Return Optimization. 

Klaus began his career at Nationwide in 2005 and has served as the Director of Investments Operations, Investment Professional within Enterprise Portfolio Management where he was responsible for relationship and client management, and as Chief Financial Officer – Planning and Administration for Nationwide Investments. Prior to joining Nationwide, Klaus held several positions at State Street Bank in their Insurance Outsourcing practice. 

He is the current chair of the North American Chief Risk Officer Council. 

Deb Shultz

 

 

 

Deb Shultz | Vice President, Chief Risk Officer at Northwestern Mutual

Deb was appointed to the CRO role in December 2022 and is responsible for enterprise risk management oversight. She is also a member of Northwestern Mutual’s Finance Leadership team.

Previously, she was Vice President, New Business and the head of the New Business Department. In this role, she ensured high quality underwriting execution across the product lines while delivering an efficient seamless purchase experience with an unwavering commitment to long-term financial strength.

Deb held other roles within the Company during her 17-year tenure. She was formerly the Vice President – Financial Management and the head of Northwestern Mutual’s Financial Management Department. In this role, her responsibilities included leading the Financial Management Department and its four divisions which include Budget & Expense Management, Sourcing and Procurement, Insurable Risk Management, and Treasury. Schultz was also a former member of the Actuarial Department serving as a Senior Actuary, where she had responsibility for the annuity and retirement benefits teams within the Actuarial Department.

Rahim Hirji

 

 

 

Rahim Hirji | Chief Risk Officer at Manulife

Rahim Hirji is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and Global Leadership Team and is responsible for the Company’s Enterprise Risk Management framework, including the independent oversight of risks across the organization. Prior to his appointment in 2011 as Chief Risk Officer, he was the Chief Financial Officer for the Canadian Segment and previously headed Manulife’s Global Asset Liability Management Operations. He has also held various financial and actuarial roles in various operating segments. 

 

Rahim holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, the Society of Actuaries, and is a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
